Fixed Doll
Cartridge pin (ROMI C 420, C 510 and C 620)
The spindle is mounted on a robust, high load capacity, very rigid structure offering good vibration damping in extreme working conditions, allowing for excellent geometric accuracy.
Driven by an AC motor, with pulleys and micro-V belt, which delivers high torque and continuously variable speed.
Gear spindle (ROMI C 680, C 830, C 1000 and C 1000BB)
The gears and shafts are hardened, ground, and dynamically balanced. The spindles are designed to withstand significant stresses under the most demanding working conditions.
Lubrication is provided by an oil recirculation system, ensuring constant and efficient lubrication for high performance and extended service life.
Chucks
Lathes can be equipped with different types of chucks (*):
- universal 3-jaw chuck
- 3-jaw hydraulic chuck
- 4-jaw independent chuck
- 4-jaw independent clamping pot (ROMI C 830 and C 1000)
(*) Mandatory option selection, availability depends on machine model.
Clamping pot (optional)
The ROMI C 830, C 1000 and C 1000BB machines can be equipped with a rear chuck with 4 independent jaws:
- Ø 550 mm (22”) (ASA A2-11’’)
- Ø 700 mm (28”) (ASA A2-11’’)
- Ø 720 mm (28”) (ASA A2-20’’)
This is an important accessory for clamping shafts and long tubes. The machines are equipped with an access hatch for opening and closing the jaws.
Buildings
The frames of ROMI C-series lathes feature a robust structure made of high-quality cast iron, which absorbs vibrations during machining.
Prismatic guides are hardened and ground to ensure high wear resistance. They form a self-adjusting system that ensures constant contact between the cross slide and the bed.
These features guarantee high rigidity, stability, and precision for demanding machining operations.
Prismatic guide and carriage
The prismatic guides are hardened and ground for optimal durability. The supports are coated with a low-friction material, allowing for easy maintenance over time and preserving accuracy.
Turrets (optional)
- Quick-change manual turret
- Rear turret
- 8-position electric turret
- 4-position manual turret (vertical)
- 4-position electric turret (vertical)
- 8-position turret – horizontal
- 8-position electric turret in VDI with rotating tools (depending on the model) - 8 positions
- Other (on request)
Fixed glasses
For clamping long workpieces (such as shafts or tubes), ROMI C Series CNC lathes can be equipped with various types of steady rests (optional) that securely hold the workpieces.
The steady rests are available with rollers and bronze pads. Other options are available upon request.
Counterpoint
ROMI C Series lathes are equipped with a tailstock with a manually driven quill (standard equipment), hydraulically driven, or pneumatically driven quill, depending on the model. For high load capacity,
rigidity, and excellent vibration absorption, the C 830 and C 1000 lathes are equipped with a tailstock featuring an integrated MT-5 rotating center within the quill.
The tailstock is positioned via the carriage drive.
CNC control: SIEMENS 828 D with ShopTurn.
Simple programming, high performance, reliable.
The programming of the ROMI series is controlled by the SIEMENS 828D control unit, enabling:
- conversational programming
- ISO programming
Conversational programming allows you to design a program directly on the machine in record time, thus reducing unproductive time. Ideal for small batches and one-off parts, no knowledge of ISO coding is required.
ShopTurn is a control and programming software for single-carriage lathes. ShopTurn is suitable for both experienced users and those without specific knowledge of the ISO language. Easy to use and very user-friendly, ShopTurn displays the program as a machining sequence and represents individual cycles and contour elements using icons. You can then easily modify the organization of this machining sequence using the "copy, cut, insert" functions. In addition to a large number of cycles, this software offers a range of practical features (e.g., workpiece and tool measurement, dynamic tool wear management). ShopTurn also offers advanced program management functions. ShopTurn supports three different programming types:
1. Programs created outside the machine, for example, those created on CAD/CAM systems.
2. G-code programs created directly at the machine with support for Siemens cycles.
3. Creation as a machining sequence using the ShopTurn conversational interface.
Advantages:
Machine settings (part and tool measurement) with graphical support
; Tool management, geometries, wear, and tool life
; Graphical programming assistance
; Graphical simulation of part machining
Thanks to conversational programming:
Reduced programming time
; graphical representation of the part on the screen as programming progresses
; numerous turning, milling, and drilling cycles with integrated graphical assistance, including an engraving cycle
; intelligent turning cycle
; automatic management of approach and retraction movements
10.4'' color LCD screen with programmable keys for function selection and activation, French interface and communication ports: a USB port, a Compact Flash card port and an optional Ethernet connector allow the user to easily transfer programs and settings.
